My Family's Fav Hamburger Recipe
Every family has its favorite recipes that are considered comfort food to them. They can also be referred to as "secret" recipes. By writing this, it is no longer a secret, so keep it on the down-low. It is a hamburger (actually beef) that has gorgonzola cheese, onions, BBQ coffee rub, and other ingredients that makes it special and taste like perfection.
My Family's Fav Hamburger Recipe
Ingredients
1 lb. of Lean Ground Beef
1 small onion or half of a large onion chopped fine
1 clove of garlic chopped fine
Splash of olive oil
A dollop of sour cream (Can be substituted for 2 tbsps of half & half or 2 tbsps of milk)
1 tbsp of Trader Joe's BBQ Rub and Seasoning with Coffee & Garlic
1/2 cup of crumpled gorgonzola
Instructions
Heat up a pan on the stove on medium heat. Sautee the onion and garlic in the olive oil until yellow and translucent. Let cool.
Put the meat into a bowl with the sour cream and Trader Joe's rub and mix. You can either mix with your hands or a spoon. When the onion-garlic mixture has cooled, add it to the meat and combine. Lastly, carefully mix in the gorgonzola. You want to be careful because the gorgonzola is very fragile.
Form the meat into 6-7 patties depending on how big you want your burgers. Grill the patties for about 12 minutes, flipping them after 6 minutes on high. You might need more or less time depending on how hot your grill is. Every grill is different heat settings.
When the patties are cooked, add your favorite condiments: Pickles, lettuce, tomato, ketchup, mustard, BBQ sauce, and other toppings you like. I put on pickles, lettuce, ketchup, and a bacon-onion jam that we found at Plow & Hearth. I hope you enjoy my family's "secret" burger recipe.
